SK Innovation, Ford investing $8.6B in U.S.

Battery plants in two states are biggest projects ever for firms.

두 나라의 배터리 공장은 회사의 가장 큰 프로젝트이다.

SK Innovation and American automaker Ford will invest 10.2 trillion won ($8.6 billion) to build three electric vehicle (EV) battery factories in the United States, the two companies announced Tuesday.

화요일에, SK Innovation 과 미국의 자동차회사 포드는 미국에 세 개의 전기차 배터리 공장을 짓는것에 10.2조원을 투자 할 것이라고 발표했다.

Ford also announced it will invest another 2.8 trillion won to build an electirc trunck assembly near one of the battery plants.

또한, 포드는 배터리 공장 근처에 전기트럭 조립체 건설을 위해 2.8조원을 추가로 투자 할 것이라고 발표했다.

Through a joint venture by the two companies called BlueOvalSK, SK Innovation and Ford will each invest 5.1 trillion won to build the battery plants, which are expected to start production in 2025.

비록 두 회사의 공동투자는 BlueOvalSK라고 불리지만, SK Innovation과 포드는 2025년에 완공 예정인 배터리 공장을 짓기위해, 각각 5.1조원을 투자할것이다.

This is the biggest single investment made by Ford in its 118-year history, and SK Innovation's biggest too.

118년의 역사인 포드에 의해 이루어진 투자는 가장 큰 투자이고, SK Innovation의 투자 또한, 가장 큰 투자이다.

The investments are expected to creat 110,000 jobs in the U.S.

이 투자는 미국에 110,000개 가량의 직업을 생산할 것으로 예상된다.

BlueOvalSK will build one battery factory in Tennessee and the remaing two in Kentucky.

BlueOvalSK는 배터리 공장을 테네시주에 하나, 켄터키주에 두 개의 공장을 건설 할 예정이다.

Each factory will have production capacity of 43 giga-watt-hour(GWh).

각각의 공장은 시간 당 43 기가바이트 용량을 생산 할 것이다.

Ford's electric truck assembly plant will be built' next to the BlueOvalSK battery plant in Tennessee.

포드의 전기트럭 조립공장은 테네시주의 BlueOvalSK 배터리 공장 옆에 건설 될 예정이다.

The combined production capacity of the three new battery-making locations, 129 GWh, is enough for 2.1 million EVs with 60-kilowatt batteries.

총 합해 생산용량이 시간 당 129 기가 바이트인 세 개의 새로운 배터리 공장의 생산지는 60 킬로와트 배터리를 탑재한 전기차 210만대를 생산하기에 충분하다.

The joint venture had promised 60 GWh of battery manufacturing capacity early this year, but decided to more than double the capacity, citing increased demand for EVs in the United States on the back of green policies of the country's president, Joe Biden.

공동 투자는 올해 초에 시간 당 60 기가바이트 상당의 생산 용량을 약속해왔지만,  미국의 대통령 조 바이든의 녹색정책에 힘입어 전기차 수요의 증가로 인해 생산용량을 두 배 이상 늘리기로 결정되었다.

 "We are proud to be partnering with Ford as they open a new chapter in automobile history," said Jee Dong-seob, head of SK Innovation's battery business in a release Tuesday.

화요일에 발표된 SK Innovation의 배터리 사업의 대표인 지동섭은 "자동차 역사의 새로운 챕터을 여는것에 포드와 함께 할 수 있어 자랑스럽다."고 말했다.

With the three new factories, SK Innovation will have five manufacturing facilities in the United States with combined manufacturing capacity of 150 GWh.

그 세 개의 새로운 공장과 함께, SK Innovation은 미국에 모두 합쳐 생산용량이 시간 당 150 기가바이트인 총 5개의 공장을 가지게 될 것이다.

The Korean petrochemical-battery company has two factories under construction in Georgia.

한국의 석유 화학 전지 회사는 조지아주에 두 개의 건설중인 공장을 가지고 있다.

One will have production capacity of 9.8 GWh and the other 11.7 GWh.

하나는 생산용량이 시간 당 9.8 기가바이트이고, 다른 하나는 시간 당 11.7 기가바이트이다.

That 150 GWh manufacturing capacity is the biggest of all battery makers doing business in the United States.

생산용량이 시간 당 150 기가바이트인것은 미국에서 사업을 진행중인 모든 배터리 공장 중 가장 큰 것이다.

LG Energy Solution, the world's second biggest EV battery supplier after China's CATL and a rival of SK Innovation, is constructing two factories in Ohio and Tennessee with partner General Motors that will have combined manufacturing capacity of 70 GWh.

세계에서 두번째로 많은 양의 전기차 배터리를 중국의 CATL에 공급하고, SK Innovation의 경쟁자인 LG  Energy Solution은  총 합 시간 당 70 기가바이트의 생산용량을 가진 General Motors와 파트너로 하여 오하이오주와 테네시주에 두 개의 공장을 건설 중이다.

A total of 5.4 trillion won has been invested in them.

거기에는 총 5.4조원이 투자되었다.

LG Energy Solution is promising to build another facilities that have 70 GWh manufacturing capacity by 2025 through an investment of 5 trillion won.

LG Energy Solution은 2025년에 5조원의 투자를 통해 시간 당 70 기가바이트의 생산용량을 가진 또 다른 공장을 건설 할 것이라고 약속했다.

When added to its existing capacity of 5 GWh at its plant in Michigan, LG Energy Solution is expected to have manufacturing capacity of 145 GWh by 2025, falling slightly short of what SK Innovation is expected to be capable of.

미시간주에있는 공장에 존재하는 용량의 시간 당 5 기가바이트를 추가할때, LG Energy Solution은 2025년에 SK Innovation이 할 수 있는 것으로 예상되는 것보다 약간 감소한 시간 당 145 기가바이트의 생산용량을 가질것으로 예상된다.

SK Innovation said it expects to have manufacturing capacity of 200 GWh by 2025 at plants around the world.

SK Innovation은 2025년에 전 세계의 공장에서 시간 당 200 기가바이트의 생산용량을 가지게 될 것이라 예측한다고 말했다.
